Is the Apple M1 Max MacBook Pro 16" the ultimate music production computer?

Is the Apple M1 Max the ultimate music production computer on the market? I'll share my thoughts with you after producing on one for the last year.

Is it worth the money?

The apple M1 Max isn't a cheap computer. Not by a long shot. For $3500 that's a used car at an auction for a broke college student. And $3500 is the starting price, you can get more memory and other things that will drive up the price. Assuming you have the money to buy an Apple M1 Max for music, but is it worth it? Absolutely. I have never been happier with a computer in my entire life. The 16" display is drop dead gorgeous. I tend to use mine in clamshell mode when I'm producing music in my home studio. But the 16" Retina display coup[led with a massive 32 core GPU to make the graphics insanely fast. The speakers that come on the computer are insanely loud for a laptop. Mine stay's connected to my studio monitors most of the time but if I'm on the go or in my hotel room the Apple M1 Max speaker's are perfect for at least laying down ideas until you get back to your studio. 3 thunderbolt inputs, 1 HDMI input, a headphone jack and a SD card slot but still no USB port. Also they have got rid of the light bar display that came on the old MacBook Pro's. The DAW I use to produce music on my Apple M1 Max MacBook Pro is FL Studio. And I can say with out a doubt it can handle what ever you throw at it with ease. As long as you have your computer coupled with a good audio interface (to relive stress of your cpu, audio interfaces have their own drivers) . It comes with 32GB of unified memory or you can upgrade to 64GB for an extra $400. Also it comes with a 1TB SSD, you can upgrade to a 2TB SSD for an extra $400, a 4TB SSD for an extra $1000 or a 8TB SSD for an extra $2,200. It also can come pre-installed with Final Cut Pro for an extra $299.99, or with Logic Pro for an extra $199.99.

What screen size should you buy?

Persoanlly, I went with the 16" display. Why did I choose the 16" display over the 14" one? I owned a 13 inch Macbook Pro previously and personally it was painful to make beats on for an extended period of time. Unless you plan to use it clam shell mode most of the time I suggest you buy the 16" display. It makes it easier for those times when you actually have to use the laptop on those on the go studio sessions. It's also very heavy for a laptop considering how small moderen laptops are. It's not the kind of computer you want to carry more than you have to. The speakers are larger on the 16" version. But everything depeneds on your needs and what you're going to use it for.

Apple M1 Max MacBook Pro Accessories.

The Apple Magic Mouse is an amazing mouse for what it is. Its just not the best mouse to use for music production. It's to easy to accident move a fader nob or something for the sort beacsue the mouse is so sensitive. Just your finger resting on it is enough pressure. The best part about it is it doesn't need a USB port sensor. It connects via bluetooth. The Apple Magic Keyboard is my favorite accessory. These are both for using the computer in clamshell mode. Another accessory that is great for this computer is a clamshell holder to connect to a larger display. A curved monitor or any monitor in your budget would go great to accompany the Apple M1 Max Macbook Pro. My favorite brand of audio interface to use with the M1 Max is Universal Audio. I personally own a Universal Audio Arrow (Review here https://www.teflonpapi.com/post/5-reasons-you-should-buy-a-universal-audio-arrow) All of these accessories would go great with your new laptop.

In Conclusion.

The Apple M1 Max Macbook Pro Is a power house of a comptuer and should take care of your music production needs and exceed them by far.
